BALLYTURK by Enda Walsh

Directed by Monti Cerabino

I directed Ballyturk as my senior thesis at the University of the Arts. We were just coming out of lockdown and I wanted to find a piece that could encapsulate what I had felt in the past year. In my search I discovered Enda Walsh and Ballyturk consumed me. It was written in 2014 and is in no way about the Corona Virus, nor does the piece touch on contagions or lockdown, but rather it explores the highs and lows of extreme proximity with one other person. It interrogates how we stay sane in the face of boredom, doubt, and pain.
